What we’re learning about proof.

Working notes from the team building Kweli: the difference between finding a record and checking a file, and where that matters in claims, labs and other workflows.

Field notes

Three questions shaping the product.

The details matter more than broad promises. These are the distinctions we keep coming back to as we build.

01 / Verification

A QR record and an exact file answer different questions.

A QR can take a recipient to the issuer’s proof record. The recipient can compare the named issuer and registered details with the document in hand. That confirms the record exists; it does not establish that this particular PDF is unchanged.

For that, Kweli checks the digital file against the fingerprint of the final QR-bearing version the issuer registered. Both checks belong in the same workflow.

02 / Insurance

The certificate is only the start of a claim.

When a claims team receives a garage estimate, towing invoice or assessor report, the question is whether each file came from its stated issuer in that exact version. A logo or forwarded email cannot settle it.

Start with a small panel of issuers. Let each register its own final document, then give the claims handler a way to check the QR record and file before making a decision.

03 / Laboratories

The report travels farther than the lab.

A soil or diagnostic report can pass from the laboratory to a customer, buyer, bank or insurer. The lab should be able to show which final report it issued, even after the file has been forwarded.

Proof of origin and file integrity still leaves the scientific result to the lab and its professional standards. Keeping that distinction clear makes the check useful.
